As winter is fast approaching a heavier weight curtain will help keep the warmth in. You can opt for a lightweight, med-weight or heavyweight interlining. Each of these will add variable amounts of insulation at your windows, also it allows the curtain to hang better and protects the face fabric.

The different types of heading also help to finish the completed look:

• Pinch Pleat headings add a more formal look to a room, so would be more suitable for a sitting room or dining room.
• Pencil pleat heading has a more informal look so would be more suitable for a bedroom.
• Eyelet or Wave headings have a more streamlined look which are good for limited spaces and also have a contemporary feel.

Blinds and Shutters

Blinds are mostly used in kitchens and bathrooms, but they can also be used with curtains.

There are different styles of blinds, Roman, vertical, venetian, roller and pleated.

The new kids on the block are shutters, which can give your home a more contemporary feel. These can come in a wide selection of styles and colours, and look good all year round.
